Newly crowned MotoGP champion Jorge Martin has hinted at the possibility of reuniting with Ducati in the future, even after a high-profile split that saw him join rival manufacturer Aprilia. Martin, who claimed the 2024 MotoGP title on a satellite bike, acknowledged Ducati’s pivotal role in his career but emphasized the fresh challenges awaiting him with Aprilia.
The 26-year-old Spaniard, who raced for Pramac Ducati, praised the manufacturer for their support throughout his journey to MotoGP and during his 2024 title campaign. However, Martin’s relationship with Ducati soured after the team passed him over for a factory seat, opting instead for six-time champion Marc Marquez. This decision led Martin to sign a multi-year contract with Aprilia, starting in 2025.

Martin’s Journey to MotoGP Glory
Reflecting on his time with Ducati, Martin shared:
“They gave me the opportunity to get to MotoGP, which is already very difficult. When I arrived, the Desmosedici wasn’t a winning bike, but they had confidence in me. They helped me fight for a world championship and I’ll always be grateful for that.”
Martin’s focus on consistency over outright speed in 2024 earned him the distinction of being the first satellite rider to win a MotoGP title. Despite his fractured relationship with Ducati, he expressed gratitude and left the door open for future collaboration:
“Maybe in the future, we can be together again.”

The Move to Aprilia
Martin’s next challenge lies with Aprilia, a manufacturer striving to close the gap with Ducati. Aprilia was the only team to defeat Ducati in a grand prix this season but still finished third in the constructors’ championship. Martin remains optimistic about the transition:
“This is a big challenge, but it motivates me to build something from scratch. Maybe we’ll start strong, or maybe we’ll have to work hard to improve. Either way, I’m confident.”
Martin acknowledged the difficulty of moving from a championship-winning bike to a project in development but believes the change offers a unique opportunity:
“Staying with Ducati would have been great, but this motivates me to prove myself in a different way.”
What Lies Ahead
The 2025 MotoGP season will mark a new chapter for Martin, as he works to elevate Aprilia’s status in the sport. With a mix of proven talent and determination, Martin aims to replicate his championship success under a different banner.
