The ICC Men’s T20I rankings have been updated following India’s dominant performance in their four-match T20I series win against South Africa. The series saw impressive contributions from both seasoned players and younger talents, leading to significant movements in the rankings.
Hardik Pandya Retakes No.1 All-Rounder Spot
Despite a relatively quiet series in terms of individual contributions, Hardik Pandya has reclaimed his spot as the world’s No.1 T20I all-rounder. Pandya scored 59 runs and took 2 wickets during the series. His consistent all-rounder performance was enough to push him back to the top, after briefly dropping to 7th following the T20 World Cup.
Pandya’s return to the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings with a rating of 244 underscores his vital role in India’s T20I setup. His previous ranking was 3rd since October 6, and this climb marks an important milestone in his career.
Tilak Varma’s Meteoric Rise in ICC T20I Batting Rankings
The biggest move in the batting rankings came from Tilak Varma, whose outstanding form in the series saw him jump 69 places, from 72nd to 3rd. Varma scored a sensational 280 runs, including back-to-back unbeaten centuries in the third and fourth T20Is (107* and 120*), which were instrumental in India’s series win.
His meteoric rise in the rankings is a reflection of his stellar performances, and he now holds a personal best rating of 806. This is the highest ranking Tilak Varma has ever held in T20I cricket. As a result of his rise, Suryakumar Yadav, who had previously been ranked 3rd, dropped to 4th with a rating of 788.
Sanju Samson Climbs 17 Places in Batting Rankings
Another player who impressed during the series was Sanju Samson, who contributed significantly with the bat, scoring two centuries in the process. Samson’s performances have seen him rise 17 places, moving up to 22nd in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. His consistency with the bat has solidified his place in India’s middle order.
Other Notable Movements in the Rankings
- Varun Chakravarthy had an exceptional series, taking 12 wickets. His performance has seen him rise 36 places in the bowling rankings, securing the 28th spot.
