Maharashtra Politics: BJP-Led Mahayuti Set to Finalize Leadership Formula

In a major political development, Mahayuti leaders from Maharashtra, including caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, are set to meet BJP’s high command in New Delhi this Thursday. The meeting is expected to finalize a “one CM, two deputy CMs” formula to ensure smooth governance for the next five years.

Sources suggest that BJP will likely take the CM’s chair, with Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party retaining the deputy CM posts. Shinde himself hinted at a leadership reshuffle, expressing full support for the BJP’s decision and showing readiness to step down.

The Mahayuti alliance—comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP—recently achieved a resounding victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections, securing 230 seats in the 288-member assembly. This includes 132 seats for BJP, 57 for Shiv Sena, and 41 for NCP. Their win decimated the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, with Congress suffering its worst-ever defeat in the state.

Stay tuned as Maharashtra’s political landscape evolves, with BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis emerging as the favorite for the CM role.
